E. Anne Tompkins, 95, of Wellsboro died on Friday February 12, 2016 at The Green Home in Wellsboro. She was the wife of Donald E. Tompkins who preceded her in death on December 20, 1991. Anne was born July 24, 1920 in Westernville, NY, the daughter of the late John Elmer and Marjorie G.( Pillmore) Ellis.
For many years Anne worked at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Wellsboro, and retired as a Laboratory Technician. She had been an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and served on the church’s Altar Guild. An accomplished artist, Anne was a charter member of the Pine Creek Decorative Artists, and a member and Past President of the Wellsboro Art Club.
Surviving are her son: James (Laurie) Tompkins, of Blossburg, PA, daughter: Joanne (William) Wright of Terre Haute, IN, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Anne’s memorial service at 2pm, Friday February 19, 2016 at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Pearl Street Wellsboro, with Rev. Gregory P. Hinton officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anne’s name to St Paul’s Episcopal Church Pearl Street Wellsboro, PA 16901, or to the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center 134 Main Street Wellsboro, PA 16901.
