Allen C. Scranton

Allen C. Scranton, 105, of Wellsboro went to his heavenly home on Monday, December 18, 2023. He was born in Ansonia, PA, on February 6, 1918, to Homer L. and Nina (Balfour) Scranton. Allen served in the U.S Army during World War II. He was a supervisor for Corning Glass Works, a member of both the Christ Church in Wellsboro and Charter Member of Tioga County Child Evangelism. Aside from keeping bees, he also enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, and gardening, especially gladiolus and strawberries. Allen is survived by his daughters, Linda K. Gamble (Tom) of Wellsboro, and Carol Scranton of Wellsboro; Three Grandchildren: Dr. Stephanie Gamble-Colosimo (Kevin) of Buffalo, NY, Michael Gamble (Rebecca) of Phoenix, AZ, Emily Kreider (Josh) of Wellsboro; Four Great-Grandchildren: Maxwell Colosimo, Cole Colosimo, Evelyn Kreider, Maggie Kreider; He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter Diane Bookmiller; a sister, Nida Henkiel; three brothers, Morgan Scranton, Ben Scranton, Jess Bowen. Friends and family are invited to pay tribute to Allen's life from 1pm to 2pm on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, with a memorial service and military honors to follow at 2pm. The burial will follow at the Wellsboro Cemetery. His family requests memorial contributions be made out to Tioga County Child Evangelism or Christ Church 12880 US 6 Wellsboro, PA, 16901.
