Rosemary Anita Stutz, 66, of Wellsboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer in Wellsboro with family by her side. She married Walter S. Stutz in 1981, they shared over 36 years of marriage together. She was born on March 4, 1952, in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of the late James D., Sr. and Catherine (Haubert) Hebson.
Rosemary was a devout Catholic with her most recent parish being St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Wellsboro. Simply living in the beautiful community of Wellsboro brought her great joy, along with the frequent trips to her family lake house in the Adirondacks. What is known as “Nana’s Lake House,” provided a picturesque summer getaway for Rosemary and her family dating back to Rose's youth. She loved nature and being outdoors, even if it was merely working in the garden or hosting family gatherings. Most importantly, she truly valued the love she had for her husband and daughters, Walter, Liz and Caroline. Rosemary was incredibly independent and never gave in to her fight with pancreatic cancer, exceeding expectations for a year and a half.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Walter of Wellsboro; daughters, Elizabeth (George) Rutter and Caroline Stutz, both of Philadelphia; brothers, James D. Hebson, Jr. of Kearny, NJ, Richard W. (Susan) Hebson of Wellsboro, and Charles S. (Margaret) Hebson of Falmouth, ME; sister, Joanne (Arthur) Higgins of York, ME; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her sister, Catherine McVicker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Rosemary’s name to the Lustgarten Foundation, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797.
