Jeffrey Lynn Miller

June 22, 1956 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Jeffrey Lynn Miller, 61, of Blackwell, PA passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport. He was born June 22, 1956, the son of Ralph R. and Margaret E. (Powell) Miller. Jeffery grew up in Morris at Miller’s Store, he attended Liberty schools until he joined the military, and served in the US Army. On August 22, 1981, soon after returning from the military, he married Ruth Anne Sutley and moved to Blackwell. He had a number of construction jobs and worked as a lift operator at Ski Sawmill before he found his life’s work at Gettysburg National Military Park. People that knew him thought he loved the park because of his great interest in history, but his family knew that working for the park service fulfilled his need to have a purpose in helping others every day of his life. He helped clean and restore every major monument of the park including: the Pennsylvania, the Virginia, and the Peace Light. He was an expert in historical roofing, having helped shingle the wooden roofs on many farm houses and buildings, and he worked to restore the slate roof on the Eisenhower Home. He was always the first man in the shop each morning. He is survived by his wife: Ruth Anne; son: John; and daughter: Anne; his brothers Steven (Marilyn) Miller; and Mark (Valerie) Miler; and sister Jann (Tom) Cruttenden. He is also dearly loved by his Biglerville family: Loretta Sandoe, a woman who was so much more than just a “land-lady”, and her children: Melissa Sandoe, Mike Sandoe and Debra McCauslin. He also shared a kinship with all those with whom he worked. It was Jeffrey’s great wish that he should never have to retire from his job with the National Park Service, and he got that wish. In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral. The family has entrusted the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home 139 Main Street Wellsboro, PA with his arrangements. Donations in his name may be made to the Blackwell Community Church c/o Donald H. Blackwell. To share memories of Jeffrey or to sign his guestbook please visit www.tusseymosher.com
