Helen B. (McNatt) Bayles, 75, of Middlebury Center, PA, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at UPMC Susquehanna Soldiers and Sailors Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. She spent many years with the love of her life, Bruce C. Wildermuth, Sr., prior to his passing in 2011. She was born on April 15, 1943 in Elkton, MD, the daughter of the late David and Kathleen (Shahan) McNatt.
Helen spent her whole life helping others in need, whether it was during her career as a Nurse’s Aide or in her own home as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She retired from the Pocopson Care Home, West Chester, PA in 1989 and moved to the Wellsboro area where she continued to serve her community at the Carleton Nursing Home. Helen enjoyed volunteering and was very involved with the Dickens of a Christmas celebration, setting up a hot dog and baked goods stand each year with her family. She also baked cakes for the Mother’s Day fundraiser at the Middlebury Fire Hall. Some of her other hobbies included rummaging through yard sales, raising horses, observing wildlife and hunting and fishing with the love of her life, Bruce. Helen truly loved spending time with her family, especially the trips they took to Chincoteague, Virginia.
Left to cherish Helen’s memory are her son, David Bayles of Middlebury Center; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Steve Woods of Elkton, MD; granddaughter, Jeanmarie Woods of Elkton, MD; brother and sister-in-law, Warren “Buddy” and Nancy McNatt of Oxford, PA; sister, Grace Raspe of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
In addition to her beloved, Bruce, Helen was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901.
