Harold J. Monk, Sr.

Harold J. Monk, Sr., 82, of Middlebury Center passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of Anna K. (Day) Monk whom he married on August 12, 1953, they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together.

 Harold was born July 26, 1934, in Triangle, NY, the son of the late John H. and Viola (Smith) Monk.

Harold was a member of Marsh Creek Baptist Church.  He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He was a hard worker, going from morning to night.  Harold owned and operated Monk’s Garage and loved cars. He was a VFW supporter. Harold was a very kind and patient man with a great sense of humor. He truly loved time spent with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Anna, are his sons and daughters-in-law, Harold “Skip” Monk(Robin), Tioga and David “Crockett” Monk (Debbie), Lawrenceville; daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel Smith-Guild (Millard), Addison, NY and Bonnie Luther (Jim), Cresaptown, MD. Harold was affectionately known as Grandpa HiyaHiya to twenty-one grandchildren and forty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy.  Harold and Anna were never afraid to open their home to family and friends in need.  Anyone who entered their home became part of the Monk family.

A Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
