Mary Alta Osborn Blackman, 87, of Lancaster passed away February 8 at Willow Valley Retirement Community. At the time of her death, she was surrounded by family. Born on January 20, 1931 in Morris, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harry S. and Grace (Broughton) Osborn. In 1950 she married Richard Blackman, graduate of Pennsylvania State University and hotelier, with whom she was married for fifty years and raised four children. She was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word and enjoyed crafts, entertaining, and gardening. She was deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster City for many years. Those close to her enjoyed her excellent cooking and outstanding cheesecake. Mary was kind and thoughtful and loved spoiling her grandchildren. A favorite family tradition was the annual Christmas Eve dinner at the house she shared with Richard.
She is survived by her sister, Edna (Hastings), her children, Marsha (Dusty) Prentiss, Keith (Donna) Blackman, David (Lynn) Blackman and Thomas (Linda) Blackman, and her grandchildren, Sarah (Dominic) Blackman, Keith Jr. (Jessica) Blackman, Katherine (Joshua) Terry, and David Blackman. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Richard (2000) and sisters, Nila Osborn and Helen Horton.
Friends and family are invited to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home at 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, Pa. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 11am to 12 noon to celebrate Mary’s life, her funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home.
