Margaret E. (Powell) Miller

Margaret E. (Powell) Miller, 88, a lifelong resident of Morris, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at UPMC Susquehanna Soldiers and Sailors in Wellsboro. She married the late Ralph R. Miller on August 17, 1949 and they shared 58 years of marriage together prior to his death in 2008. She was born August 29, 1929 in Morris, the daughter of the late James H. and Edith E. (Williammee) Powell.

Margaret grew up in the Morris area and graduated from Wellsboro High School in 1947. She was a member of the Morris-Blackwell United Methodist Church, where she was very involved. Her and her husband, Ralph, owned and operated Miller’s General Store in Morris until her retirement in 1992. Margaret had a great passion for antiques, whether it was buying and selling antiques with Etc. Antiques in Wellsboro or simply collecting and refinishing antiques herself. She enjoyed attending dances with her husband and was a member of the Canyon Squares. She will be remembered by family and friends for her delicious egg custard and her kind-hearted nature.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Steven Ralph (Marilyn Kupchak) Miller of Morris and Mark Alden (Valerie) Miller of Nauvoo; daughter, Jann M. (Edward) Cruttenden of Wellsboro; three grandchildren, Levi, John and Ann; two great grandchildren, Jaelyn and Kayden; sister, Amy (Leigh) Rood of Morris; daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Miller of Morris; several nieces and nephews; many dear friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, Ralph, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey L. Miller, and her brother, James David Powell.

Memorial contributions can be made in Margaret’s name to the Morris-Blackwell United Methodist Church, 1990 Route 287, Morris, PA 16938.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd., 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901. Margaret’s memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Julie Rosensteel and Pastor Sherri Butters officiating. Burial will take place in Salem – St. Paul Cemetery, Liberty.
