Joan E. Urbano, 95, passed away in her home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, surrounded by friends and family. Several years ago, in a matter of minutes, she wrote her own obituary which appears below. We will miss her love of life and quick wit. 

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at the home of Lenore Urbano and Jim Rague on Monday, June 12, starting at 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to attend. 

Joan Urbano nee Evons passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law where she had been living alone for the past 10 years since the death of her husband, Vincent. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lenore Urbano and Jim Rague. They live together and have two children but they aren’t married. You can tell because her name is still Urbano. 

Joan was married to Charles Prince, who she did not love. Then along came Vincent, a full-blooded Italian and she set out to get him. She succeeded. 

In her younger days she was called Ginger, a more appropriate name for the pole dancing that she did. When Vincent first saw her, he exclaimed “Wow! What a body!” He set out to get her. He succeeded. 

They got married and six months later Lenore was born. Then later Vincent Jr. was born. He weighed 9 lbs. What a pain it was giving birth to him. 

Mrs. Urbano complained about everything right until the end. Her last words were “Can’t anyone find my panty-liners? I’m leaking over here!” and “Where’s the scotch?” The nurse who had been taking care of her was overheard groaning and saying under her breath “Good riddance!” 

 There will be no service - just the smell of burning old person. As Scarlett would say “Oh well - tomorrow is another day.”
