As a lifelong dairy farmer, Dennis Charles Owlett toiled long and hard with our Creator’s earth -- tending, nurturing, breathing, and loving it -- just as he did with those who walked with him throughout his journey here. On Saturday, March 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, God decided his work was finished, and He called him home. Denny was born to Everett and Marion (Doan) Owlett on August 23, 1934. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Arletta (Manning) Owlett and five children, all boys, who have happily started their own families. They include: Craig and Estella Owlett, Curtiss and Mary Owlett, Chris and Darla Owlett, Ray Owlett and Joseph Richter, and Chad and Tammy Owlett. He was blessed with an abundance of grandchildren and great grandchildren who looked up to him for his character, generosity, and kindness. He was brother to Lloyd and Blanche Owlett, Keith and Patricia Owlett, Ione and Ansel Webster, Polly and Paul Bogaczyk, Dianne and Richard Nowak, and Nancy and Bill Dibble. He was the brother-in-law of Earl and Mary Jane Manning and Joyce Manning.

Through joy and sorrow, laughter and pain, Denny gave of himself humbly through dedicated service to his community. He worked as a Seedway consultant to service farmers both in the Northern Tier and southern New York. He served on countless committees throughout the years, including: the Farm Credit Board, Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, the Farmers Home Administration, the Knoxville chapter of the Freemasons, and a member of the Keeneyville United Methodist Church.

Even though Denny worked hard, he found time to play. Some of his most beloved memories came from traveling with friends and family across our country, standing in the shadows of mountains, or enjoying the marvels of nature as he hunted. He also cherished time spent with his grandchildren, especially watching and cheering them on as they played sports. In all things, Denny lived in awe of the Creator and His works.
