Dale L. Phillips, 84, of Wellsboro, passed away, Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Broad Acres. He was the husband of Gwendolyn (Rodabaugh) Phillips, who survives. Dale was born January 7, 1932, in LaPorte, PA, the son of the late Walter Clyde and Myrtle (Smith) Phillips.
He was a member of the Morris Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Assoc. Dale was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and participating in the Morris Rattlesnake Roundup.
Dale was an Army veteran who served from 1954-56, during the Korean War. During his lifetime he worked at Ward Foundry as a forklift operator.
Surviving are his wife, Gwendolyn Phillips; two sons, Dale “Butch” Phillips, Jr., (Gloria) of Trout Run and Harold “Buster” Phillips (Paula) of Morris; daughter, Beatrice “Sis” Plumley (Phillip) of Wellsboro; two step-daughters, Glenda McCarthy (Steven) of Wellsboro and Mary Kroldart (Craig) of Batavia, NY; sisters, Joan Osborn (Amos), Morris, Madeline Bartlett (Bob), Mansfield and Nina McCarthy of New York; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; neighbor and close friends, Rick and Bonnie Tranbarger. Dale was preceded in death by his 1st wife Phyllis Phillips in 2002 and his son, Walter “Stubby” Phillips.
Friends and family are invited to Dale’s Life Celebration on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, Ltd. 139 Main St., Wellsboro. Funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Canon Gregory P. Hinton officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
