Blaine R. Allen, 78, of Mansfield, passed away after a brief illness on Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. He married Patricia Blackwell on June 5, 1971 and they shared 46 years of marriage together. He was born on September 16, 1939 in Rutland Township, the son of the late Arvine and Jeanette (Sweely) Allen.
Blaine graduated from Wellsboro High School and was employed as a laborer with the former Corning Glass Works and OSRAM Sylvania glass plant in Wellsboro for nearly 40 years. He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. Blaine was a man of strong faith, as he read his Bible every day and regularly attended services at the Vineyard Church of Wellsboro. He was an avid sports fan, especially of NASCAR. More importantly, he was a dedicated supporter of the local Wellsboro Hornets sports teams and never missed an opportunity to attend a sporting event, especially if anyone in his family were competing. Blaine’s family was always the most important aspect of his life and he truly adored each of his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patricia Allen of Mansfield; sons, Kyle (Kristi) Allen of Potterbrook and Ryan (Country) Allen of Morris Run; daughter, Lori (Brett) Kennedy of Wellsboro; ten grandchildren, Alicia, Lorynn, Landen, Holden, Karsen, Riley, Lucas, Logan, Leevi and Natasha; one great-granddaughter, Reagan; brothers, Dale (Sandra) Allen and Lance Allen, both of Wellsboro; sisters, Kaye (Kurt) Dodge of Glendale, AZ and Sallie (Lewis) Sticklin of Wellsboro; several nieces and nephews.
